Wow! After coming back from a meeting that was SO informative, surrounding by people who are positive, and ideas that I can implement immediately - it's crazy how I have not been focused on meeting others until now.
Networking is a skill that can sometimes pass us up if we aren't careful; it's also a skill that needs to be passed down.
The old cliche: it's not what you know, it's who you know - is no joke. In fact, it's alive and well. We see it in school, we see it within our communities, and we see it at work. It may look different in all of these circumstances, but it's still there.
In a place where networks can be SUPER helpful, why don't we use them? Because our inner person inside is a shy as she can be - I know, because I thought twice about going because I was nervous. Nervous to chat, what if they don't like me? What if they think I'm not really a pro? What if I'm not quirky enough (ok, well that's not that case!)- but really, my inner self was SO negative that I almost talked myself out of the chance to make friends, hear new and different ways to live life, and most of all connect.
have you connected lately?
No, not with you neighbor that you see every day - or with your friends or the blog writers that you secretly wish were your friends (like her) - the people that are doing what you are doing and still having fun.
Those are the people that you want to be around and work with.
So when your inner being saying all of 'no' - pep talk the HECK out of it and do it anyway.
You never know what will come from it!
With love from your inner pep talker!
Lida
